Recently, International Heyball Pool Association received the Confirmation Letter on Heyball’s Entering the WCBS Championship from the World Pool-Billiard Association, officially launching the preparations for the WCBS Championship. From now on, IHPA will start the preparatory period of the WCBS Championship, and make every effort to formulate the format and rules of the Heyball discipline, select Heyball players of the teams from all continents, and select the referees of the Heyball discipline.
As for the debut of Heyball on the world’s highest billiards stage, WCBS commented: ” This is the first time that the Chinese Pool, also known as Heyball, will feature in a major event alongside the more widely known cue sports disciplines within the WCBS and its members. This game is rare in that it can really equal the men and women, and is suited to both pool and snooker players alike, and of course, carom players, who can easily adapt to any conditions.”
This is a great achievement for the IHPA, which was initiated by JOY Billiards in London, 2012, in global promotion of Heyball. It has made Heyball stand out from dozens of cue sports, and become one of the most mainstream cue sport in the world, on a par with snooker and other traditional cue sports.
The first WCBS Championship will be held in Ankara, Türkiye, in July 2023. The disciplines are Carom, Heyball, American 9-ball and snooker. Eight teams from all continents will be selected to participate in each discipline.
Heyball entered the WCBS Championship, which means that Heyball, a Chinese sport originally created by the Chinese and with rules formulated by the Chinese people, has become one of the four major cue sports in the world, comparable to snooker, American Pool, and Carom.
In just over a decade, Heyball has achieved remarkable results in global promotion, which is the result of the joint efforts of all Heyball promoters and enthusiasts. At present, the application for Heyball’s entering the 2023 Chengdu World Games will also start the voting. IHPA has extended an invitation to Ding Junhui, a representative figure of Chinese billiards, and called on Chinese billiards fans around the world to support Heyball. IHPA believes that with joint efforts of all Chinese billiards fellows, this Chinese billiards sport, which carries Chinese culture, will become a worldwide popular sport from China.
